As you enter the Winston-Salem Rose Society Garden, note the large climbing ‘New Dawn’ Rose. This rose is notable, not only for its beauty, but also as the first rose to be patented in the United States. Other roses in this garden represent the Hybrid Musk classification of roses.
Another feature of this garden is the stand of Hollyhocks that reappear each year from the original planting on the other side of the fence. They are a beautiful and appropriate addition to this southern garden.
