J. Horace McFarland Memorial Award


An entry of seven (7) Hybrid Tea specimens, each of a different variety, correctly named and exhibited in separate containers. Open only to current members of the American Rose Society. Fall award.

Dr. J. Horace McFarland served the American Rose Society long and well - as editor of its publications for 29 years, served as President 1930-32, published Modern Roses in 1930. Modern Roses continued to be published by the McFarland Company through 1980. His dedication and service were recognized in 1933 when the society accorded him its two highest honors, the title of President Emeritus and its Gold Honor Medal. - excerpt, American Rose Annual 1989.
