Playgirl
February 2007
The challenge of writing this article was selecting the subject, that is, my favorite rose. So I went for a stroll through my gardens to search for the answer.
My most favorite is Playgirl, a floribunda. Barbara Willert suggested I plant this rose of bright, strong, pink blooms that open like saucers with yellow stamens, for a spacious corner of the garden that receives 8-10 hours of sunlight each day. Neighbors and guests often remark on their special beauty.
This floribunda grows vigorously with a dense, bushy habit that makes it an excellent choice for a border or hedge. A vase of cut stems is grand and adds so much beauty to a sunlit room, too.
Playgirl (
MORplag) was hybridized by Ralph Moore in 1986. Medium pink, with a strong fragrance, this single (one row of petals) is a flashy attention-getter. The parents are [Playboy x Angel Face].
A hardy floribunda made for grqabbing all the attention of each visitor to the garden.
