Howard Walters: Through the Years

“Howard Walters served the American Rose Society and its membership for decades, most notably as its President, President Emeritus, author, and lecturer. He received the highest commendations of the Society – the ARS Gold Medal and the Joseph and Marion Klima Gold Medal for Rose Education. This volume is a compilation of the thirty-two years of his columns bearing the title Rosarian Ramblings that were published in the American Rose for the first time in September 1970 and continuously until the March 2003 issue, just a month before his death. Howard writes from experience. His advice is based on results he has achieved in his garden. It is not simply folklore that has been passed down from rosarian to rosarian without validation. The reader will find his writings to be as much fun to read as they are informative.” Dr. John T. Dickman

What if even a fraction of the billions of dollars generated by search engine advertisers and online shopping was directed towards the American Rose Society?

That is the concept behind GoodSearch.com, a new search engine powered by Yahoo! GoodSearch donates 50% of its revenue, approximately a penny per search, to the non-profits designated by its users. You use it exactly as you would any other search engine, and the pennies add up quickly – just 500 people searching four times a day will earn around $7,300 in a year. It doesn’t cost the users a thing!

Similarly with GoodShop.com, consumers are helping their favorite causes by shopping at hundreds of well-known retailers, including Amazon, Target, Apple, Macy’s, Best Buy, Orbitz, Staples and others. The shopping experience and the prices are exactly the same as going to the retailer directly, but by going through GoodShop, up to 30% of the purchase price is donated to the user’s favorite cause!

The American Rose Society recently registered with these sites, giving its supporters a chance to raise money for the cause every time they search the Internet or shop online.

Using GoodSearch is simple. Because the site is powered by Yahoo, users are assured of high quality results – but each time you search, money is generated for the American Rose Society. To use GoodSearch for the American Rose Society, please visit the links below or click on the ad in the left sidebar.
